With our partners, we have developed low-cost methods to convert the complex cellulose and hemi-cellulose carbohydrates contained in lignocellulosic biomass into C5 and C6 sugars which can then be digested for further processing. This provides us the opportunity to use a wide range of feedstocks to access lower cost sugars.
GBL works with a number of partners that specialize in the processing and hydrolysis of lignocellulosic feedstocks and utilize our expertise in strain and process development to optimize conversion of the feedstocks to value added products. In addition to lignocellulosic feedstocks, GBL's fermentation is highly suited for sugar and starch feedstocks for deployment in markets where the economics are suitable.
