Management Team


Sean Sutcliffe has served as Chief Executive of Green Biologics since April 2008, contributing to the company extensive commercial and operational experience across the energy and renewables sector. Prior to joining Green Biologics he was from 2005 Chief Executive of Biofuels Corporation, a UK based biodiesel producer, and from 2007 Chairman of Tidal Generation Limited, a developer of tidal stream devices. Previously Sean worked for BG Group Plc. for 14 years in a variety of roles spanning operations, business development and strategy, most recently as Executive Vice President with responsibility for Corporate Development and New Businesses. Sean is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with an Engineering degree from Cambridge University. He is a Non-Executive Director of You Broadband, an Indian ISP and an advisory board member of The Rainbow Seed Fund, a UK government funded early stage venture capital fund.

Steve Breach joined Green Biologics in October 2016 as the Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Green Biologics, Steve was CFO of Tribal Group plc, a London Stock Exchange listed education software provider. During Steve’s tenure at Tribal it expanded from its UK roots to become an international business, also operating in Australasia, North America and elsewhere in the world. Previously Steve was the CFO of a number of healthcare businesses during their evolution from start-up to full operational delivery at scale. Steve qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Young in 1993, where he focused on providing corporate finance advice to high growth businesses in the UK and internationally.

Tim serves as our Chief Technical Officer, overseeing all R&D activities. Tim earned a Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) in 1995. Tim spent three years at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia US where he developed considerable expertise in fermentation process optimization and protein purification. In 1998 he joined Aureozyme, an industrial hydrolytic enzymes biotech company. In 2001, Tim became Director of the Bioexpression and Fermentation (BFF) contract facility at the University of Georgia, where he led a team of scientists and technicians. Tim was a non-executive director on Green Biologics’ board until joining the Company in his current role in September 2011.

David Anderson serves as our Global Vice President of Marketing. David has over 19 years of experience in the specialty chemicals industry, in a range of marketing, business development, strategic planning, and acquisition roles at GenCorp Specialty Polymers, OMNOVA Solutions, and Ross Environmental Services. His experience covers a broad set of businesses and markets, from specialty coatings, nonwovens, personal care, and coated paper, to high performance elastomers and specialty resins. David began his career as an officer in the United States Army, following completion of his BA and MA in history from the State University College at Buffalo, New York.

Dana Persson serves as President of Green Biologics, Inc., our U.S. operating subsidiary, and is GBI’s Vice President of Commercial Development and Risk Management. He is also serving as Interim General Manager for Central Minnesota Renewables (CMR). Mr. Persson has extensive executive management experience running grain cooperatives, large livestock enterprises, food processing and ethanol operations. He has an advanced level of expertise in commodity hedging, commodity logistics and overall risk management. In addition to executive management roles, Dana also brings strong experience in business mergers, acquisitions, and new business start-ups.

Patrick Simms serves as our Global Vice President Process Development and Scale Up with responsibility for the GBL’s process development, scale up, and process commercialization activities. Prior to joining Green Biologics, Patrick was COO of butylfuel™ Inc. Patrick has commercialised more than 15 new bio-products produced via high yield advanced fermentation. Patrick’s previous roles include Senior VP of Operations for Osage Bio Energy, Senior VP of Operations for Diversa, and VP level positions with Biosys and Genencor. His career began with A.E. Staley, where he spent 18 years in various engineering and operations positions, and led the start-up and operations of Staley's Loudon ethanol plant. Patrick earned a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from West Virginia University. He serves as an advisor to several biotechnology companies, as well as the College of Chemical Engineering at West Virginia University.

Timothy Staub serves as our Global Vice President of Business Development. Prior to joining Green Biologics, Tim was Vice President Business Development for butylfuel™ Inc. His previous roles include President and COO of CellFor Inc., a Vancouver, BC based forestry biotechnology firm, and Director – Forestry Biotechnology for Monsanto. Tim has been associated with the paints and coatings industry since 1992 in various marketing and general management roles at Monsanto, Olin, and Arch Chemicals and was President and CEO of Sampson Coatings, Inc. He started his career in field sales with 3M Company. Tim earned a B.S. degree in industrial management from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Northwestern University.

Christina has a Masters in Finance degree from London Business School and a B.Sc. from Cornell University in Applied Economics. She has managed finances for several early stage technology companies creating cost effective organisations. Christina spent five years with investment banks UBS Dillon Reed and JP Morgan working in Operations and Finance, including analysing financial implications of new business development, running a project to limit settlement risk within the bank and streamlining European cash accounts. Christina brings to Green Biologics significant experience in finance management together with strong project management skills.
