Green Biologics
started to operate on the 1st April 2003. The name reflects
the surname of its founder and principle shareholder Dr Edward Green, and
also the environmental nature of the work. GBL is situated at the Oxford
BioBusiness Centre, which is an incubator for start-up biotech companies
and well placed for contacts, collaborations and recruitment within the
flourishing Oxford-based biotech community.The company objectives are:
Provide a “bespoke” contract research service to external
companies on microbial strain and fermentation process development for
enzyme and metabolite production.
GBL plan to isolate and develop novel microbial species
to replace conventional strains for chemical production from the fermentation
of sugars.
