As Director of Government Affairs for Green Biologics, John manages efforts to secure government sponsored alternative financing such as loan guarantees, grants, and incentives. He provides support in discussions with lending institutions and serves as primary point of contact to sponsored program managers. His activities span the Federal and State level and include interfacing with trade and lobbying groups working to initiate policy that supports renewable chemicals. John serves as a gate keeper for the Central Minnesota Renewables (CMR) automated project management system, providing project related recordkeeping and document management. John will take a lead role in fulfilling CMR permit and licensing requirements and lead efforts in securing utility contracts and agreements. John will also provide support in the areas of corporate relations (media, marketing, messaging) and project development. Prior to Green Biologics, John was a private consultant providing regulatory, government relations, and business development services in the alternative energy industry. This followed his role as Director of Project Development and Government Relations with Osage Bio Energy where he expedited pre-construction development, managed permit and compliance activities, fulfilled EPA fuel producer registration requirements, and established industry and community relationships. Prior to Osage, John directed the Division of Energy for the State of Virginia. Designated the U.S. DOE State Energy Office, his office administered federal grants and developed programs supporting deployment of new energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies. John holds a B.S.M.E. from Virginia Tech, a Diploma in Energy Management from North Carolina State University/Virginia Tech, and an M.S. in Public Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.
