Dr Liz Jenkinson

Liz Jenkinson heads up the GBL strain development team, based in Abingdon UK. She has a BSc (Hons) degree in Molecular Genetics in Biotechnology from Sussex Uni, and a PhD in Biology from York Uni. With core expertise in molecular biology she has been responsible for developing key tools for the manipulation of solventogenic clostridial strains. Liz also manages a number of Innovate UK funded grant projects, specifically those involving the use of synthetic biology to generate host strains with improved feedstock utilisation or for the production of new high value and commodity compounds. As well as being a STEM ambassador and keen supporter of providing training opportunities for students, Liz started up the company newsletter in 2014 and can often be found harassing unsuspecting colleagues for contributions.
