GBL and Songyuan Laihe Chemical Company (Laihe) enter into a Technology Collaboration Agreement

GBL and Laihe Chemical Co. a company focused on producing bio-fuels and bio-chemicals from non-food bio-mass resources have entered into a collaborative development and licensing agreement  in China . Under the terms of the agreement GBL and Laihe will collaborate to improve the economics of Laihe’s biobutanol plant by optimising GBLs fermentation technology using sugars derived using Laihe cellulosic pre-treatment process. It is anticipated that the optimised process will be in pilot trials before the end of 2011 and will be in full commercial production in 2012

Green Biologics are nominated in ‘Top 30 Most Transformative Technologies of 2010’ poll

In Florida, Biofuels Digest announced the winners of its ’30 Most Transformative Technologies of 2010′ poll. The publication’s readers submitted more than 48,000 votes from 3,500 ballots during the three-week voting process. The readers chose between transformative bioenergy technologies at more than 250 companies, universities and national laboratories, including 100 organizations that received write-in votes. GBL is pleased to announce the completion of an investment round of £4.9 million to roll out its technology and commercialisation plans.

The round was led by Capricorn Venture Partners, a new investor in GBL through its Capricorn Cleantech Fund, and included participation by all GBL’s existing institutional investors – Morningside Ventures, Carbon Trust Investment Limited and Oxford Capital Partners – as well as by management and founder investors.

Claude Stoufs, Senior Investment Manager at Capricorn Venture Partners, and David Brister, Operating Partner at Oxford Capital Partners, join the Board of GBL as part of this transaction.
