A key trend for consumer preferences in the $17bn specialty cosmetics chemicals market is increasing demand for natural ingredients, which are perceived to be safer and healthier than petro chemical derived alternatives. There are safety concerns about specific chemicals such as parabens, triclosan, silicones, or phthalates and consumer belief (real or perceived) in the superior performance of natural ingredients in skincare products.

Our renewable n-butanol can be used in combination with naturally derived fatty acids, for example oleic and palmitic acid, to produce esters. We are also able to make 100% bio-based IPA esters through conversion of our renewable acetone to IPA.
