GBL develops sustainable products derived from microbial fermentation technologies, for solving problems in both existing and emerging markets for environmental waste treatment, chemical manufacture and pharmaceutical derivatives.

Waste plant material (biomass) has little or no value. Sugars derived from biomass can be used as a fermentation feedstock for commodity chemicals, reducing the dependency on finite, polluting resources such as oil and gas. Biofuels, unlike petrol (gasoline), are CO2 neutral and do not contribute to global warming.

Composting is Nature’s way to breakdown and recycle waste plant material. GBL exploit the natural microbial activity found in compost heaps to augment and improve the composting process. Composting reduces landfill in accordance with European Directives. Compost itself reduces the need for for peat and chemical fertilisers.

GBL technology tackles environmental nuisances such as chewing gum deposits and graffiti resulting in a cleaner built environment.
