The HI-TEMP™ platform supports innovative product development in three areas.
TP-COM™ is an advanced compost accelerant incorporating thermophiles for rapid degradation of biodegradable waste. Composting is high on the Government’s National Waste Strategy agenda and legislation is fuelling a demand for more efficient and rapid composting processes. The GBL product has the potential to reduce compost times by up to 50% with estimated cost savings of 25-30% to the commercial composter. GBL is in discussions with major UK commercial composters regarding collaboration, service and supply contracts. The UK domestic and commercial composting market alone is estimated to be worth £0.4bn per annum.
TP-GUM™ is a thermostable enzyme cocktail and a novel delivery system for degradation and removal of chewing gum waste. Waste chewing gum is a major problem for local authorities who are responsible for cleaning pavements and other public areas. Conventional cleaning methods are not particularly effective and require high temperatures, pressures and/or aggressive chemicals. In contrast, the GBL treatment will be effective, easy to use, non-toxic and biodegradable. GBL is in discussion with the gum manufacturers and large established UK street cleaners. The global treatment market for waste chewing gum removal is estimated to be £1bn per annum.
CHIRO-CAT™ is a thermostable enzyme process for the synthesis of novel chiral amines- compounds that are required for the manufacture of pharmaceuticals. GBL has identified several commercially attractive chemical targets that cannot be synthesised by conventional chemical or existing biocatalytic methods. GBL is targeting the large pharmaceutical and fine chemical companies involved in research and manufacture of chiral intermediates. An estimate of the market for the chiral intermediates associated with these drugs is ca. £4bn per annum.
