GBL’s head office is in Milton Park, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, England near Oxford. The Milton Park facility is a 7000 ft² space housing offices, our genomic and microbiology laboratories, and a small 500 liter pilot facility. Much of our research team and members of our senior management team reside in the U.K., and our early financing came largely from U.K. angel investors and VC’s, such as Oxford Capital Partners and the Carbon Trust Fund. Later rounds brought in pan-European investment from Capricorn Venture Partners, along with the Morningside Group out of Hong Kong. Our 2011 merger with butylfuel™ Inc. brought a new U.S. investor, and makes GBL a truly global enterprise.
Both the E.U. chemicals market and the E.U. biofuels market are of strategic value to GBL, and we collaborate closely with companies across Europe to further our goals in these markets. Our home office remains in Europe, but our markets and our ambitions are global.
