The strain development program isolates, characterizes and improves microbes for the GBL fermentation process. Microbial strains can also be licensed out to partners.
GBL has a large culture collection of Clostridia and thermophiles. The collection represents a wealth of biochemical potential for the production of renewable chemicals. GBL mines this collection for strains and enzymes that have commercial relevance. Through genomics, classical and advanced molecular biology techniques, and screening the strains are adapted, engineered and selected for commercial development.
